Main Line steam trust is the charitable volunteer support body for the Great Central Railway based in Leicestershire, England.

Locomotive 1264 hauls a passenger train, the new second line of the double track can be seen in the foreground.

1264 was restored from scrap condition at the Great Central Railway. Some said it couldn't be done as the boiler was considered to be beyond repair.

In addition to its duties at the Great Central Railway, this locomotive can be seen on steam specials on the national network.

Our aim in 1969 was to create an environment where steam locomotives could operate under realistic conditions in a main line environment.

The former Great Central main line between Leicester and Nottingham was chosen, and now we support both Great Central Railway PLC (Leicester to Loughborough) and the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre (southwards from Ruddington, just south of Nottingham).
